Born Free 4 Build - 01

Long story short, I somehow got invited to build a bike for Born Free 4. I think Mike and Grant were most likely drunk when they wrote my name down. Regardless, I am feeling a bit of pressure to exceed expectations, there are so many builders that are more deserving of a place on this list than I am. I know most of the guys and I am looking forward to getting to know the ones I don't. I have a huge amount of respect for every one of these guys and I am honored to be in their company. Also, being the only east coast builder If I don't show up properly, I will most likely suffer a "unfortunate accident" on my way home. With all this in mind I am going to try my best to keep you up to date on the build, starting today. I have made a final decision on my bike. The major components will be... a Delkron cased "performance enhanced" flatside shovel, Hard-tailed four speed frame, Springer with Akronts fore and aft. Most importantly, during the duration of this build I am going to follow the best advice I have ever received. "Done is better that perfect"... but perfect would be awesome! ~Walter

I just landed I'm phoenix to change flights for my trip out to the Slab City Riot. Imagine my surprise when I checked my email and found out it was canceled. Yes it sucks. I have been looking forward to it. The story is the local police didn't take kindly to a few hundred bikers hanging out in the capitol of the middle of nowhere. Well, fuck them. I'm sure we can find someone who likes the color of our money and can't paint with a wide brush.

I have been getting a few emails with questions about the Street Chopper Party hopefully this should clear things up. As you should all know by now, everyone is welcome and we don't care how you arrive, as long as you arrive. Motorcycle, Moped, Car, Bus, Plane or Train don't matter much to me! The party is going on rain or shine. We are going to open up the shop, supply some free magazines, music and the seeds of stimulating conversation, where it goes from here will be entirely up to you. We ended up getting about ten inches of water in the shop. (1600 sf x 10 in. = a bunch o water) We were very lucky. There are a whole lot of people that got it a whole lot worse. The water receded quickly and by the end of the day we should be back to normal… at least our version of "normal".
