No Good Deed LAST CALL!!!

We're on the final few days of the no good deed contest. This is it folks, your last chance to nominate somebody who deserves something good. The donations keep piling up as well Aric Heckman from Innovative Casting Technologies sent us this beautiful super E bird deflector that he cast with his own hands. Ten years later

I like think Joe would be happy, even proud, that ten years on people are still inspired by his life and work. If it is true that people only die when we forget them, Joe is going to live forever.

No Good Deed Contest Update 4

The entries keep rolling in! I continue to be blown away by the quality and quantity of the submissions. Our friends at LowSide Magazine and TWT Motorcycle Parts have graciously added to the HUGE pile of prizes. LowSide has added a years subscription and a pile of swag and back issues. Mike from TWT has added gift certificte good towards anything in their store.  Keep them coming folks. I know all of you know someone that deserves some recognition for the good that they do. The cut off is Midnight New Year's Eve. We will post the winner on New Year's Day. (right after I nurse my hangover.)  I would like to thank all the companies that have donated to the prize package. I can't say enough good things about all these folks. I am proud to call them friends.

Everything Counts

The entries for the No Good Deed contest are flooding in now! People are out there doing good stuff. Everything from raising money for a kids wheelchair to helping out a friend get back on the bike. More support coming in from our friends as well. Cary Brobeck from Wrench Magazine raided the Easyriders vault and came up with this framed David Mann tapestry to add to the prize package. The Chop Cult did a very nice write up and added a huge pile of Chop Cult swag as well. Keep it coming folks! Every act of kindness counts, in more ways than one. ~ Walter

No Good Deed Contest UPDATE.

The response to the No Good Deed Contest has been amazing. Keep the stories coming! I have been getting some questions that I would like to clear up.
Does the "Good Deed" have to be between Thanksgiving and New years?
No. any Good Deed is eligible.
Can I nominate a friend?
We have been getting this question a lot. the answer is, Yes. That would be fantastic.
Who or What decides the winner?
Fate. I am going to pull a name out of a hat.

No good deed...

The other day I was going on about reaching out and helping someone, donating or volunteering time to a good cause, because the act of helping someone out is it's own reward. Or something like that. You can read it HERE. That got me thinking about the saying "No good deed goes unpunished". A sardonic commentary on the frequency with which acts of kindness backfire on those who offer them. In other words, because life is inherently unfair, those who help others are doomed to suffer as a result of their being helpful. (from Wikipedia) You never hear "No good deed goes unrewarded!" do you? If doing something nice is a reward in it self, then this should ring true, but it doesn't. I think it has something to do with human nature and societal fatalism than anything else, but that is a discussion best had over drinks. My point is, I think, I would hate for your good works to backfire. Especially since you are reading this and getting inspired to go out and kick some charitable ass! So here is the deal Send me a receipt from a American Red Cross donation, a photo of you volunteering. A photo of your coat drive or any selfless act over the holidays and I will put your name in the hat for the...
